This Partscaster was traded in to our store alongside several others, all from the same owner, and all of which are available to be viewed on our website at the time of writing. Each guitar has been put together well and with similar parts.
This guitar is the most heavily aged of the traded Partscasters, featuring a heavily reliced body and neck. The neck on this guitar is an Allparts neck, which has been heavily modified. On top of the aging done by the previous owner, an aftermarket "Fender" logo had been put on the face of the headstock. We have gone to the effort of removing this, hence the sections of the headstock that look more raw than the others. The heavy relic sanding on the back of the neck has thankfully been done quite well, and feels very smooth to play.
Very much of note, the previous owner had the original fingerboard and frets replaced. The neck now features a nice dark Rosewood fingerboard, with 22 frets rather than the stock 21. The frets have also been changed to stainless steel jumbo frets. This modification was done by local luthier Kenny McNally, who is no stranger to this job and has done a stellar job. The board and frets feel fantastic, flush in all sections with no sharp ends or burrs on any frets or on the board.
The body on this guitar is an MJT S-Style body, which has been heavily reliced by the previous owner. The relic is most heavy on the rear of the guitar as you can see in the photos, but is consistent around the body. The job has been done well, with no rough or sharp edges present.
The pickups are Fender Custom Shop pickups, however the previous owner could not remember which variety - we believe them to be Custom Shop Fat 60s. They have been installed with an Obsidian wiring kit, though the previous owner was unsure as to which kit they had specifically used.
The bridge is a Bladerunner bridge, which was purchased as an aged unit but has been further aged by the previous owner. They did a great job, and all of the moving parts still function as the ought to. The rest of the hardware has also been aged, including the volume and tone knobs.
This guitar plays excellently, and is a good example of a Partscaster.
