The introduction of the updated Gibson Victory models in 2024 has been a big hit with modern players and fans of the 80s cult classic. The Victory and Victory Figured Top quickly became two of our more popular models, and now, we are excited to announce that we are expanding the Victory lineup with the introduction of the Victory Baritone.
Like all Victory models, the new Victory Baritone is crafted for limitless self-expression and carries the DNA of the 80s-era originals, but is now available in Baritone form, giving guitarists an exciting new option with extended range into the lower frequencies, bridging the gap between a standard guitar and a standard bass.
The Victory Baritone features a double-cutaway mahogany body with the newly-refined Victory body contours. The glued-in, 28” scale mahogany neck has a comfortable Rounded profile and is topped with a compound radius ebony fretboard with 24 medium jumbo frets and adorned with acrylic dot inlays. The classic Explorer™-style headstock is outfitted with a GraphTech® nut and Grover® Mini Rotomatic® tuners for excellent tuning stability.
The Victory Baritone features chrome hardware, including a Tune-O-Matic™ bridge that provides full adjustment for action height and individual string intonation, and a Stop Bar tailpiece. Unlike the standard Victory models, the Victory Baritone has no pickguard; the electronics are installed from the rear, which adds to its sleek aesthetic.
The highly flexible electronics include two new Gibson ELEV8 humbucker pickups. These are equipped with Alnico 8 magnets and custom-gauge wire, delivering powerful, focused tones without sacrificing articulation, clarity, or dynamic control. These are wired to push/pull master volume and tone controls for coil splitting and inner/outer coil selection when the coils are split, which, along with the three-way pickup selector switch, deliver a wide range of humbucking and single coil tonal options with a minimum number of controls.
The Victory Baritone comes from the craftory setup with .013-.062” light gauge baritone strings and tuned from B to B, providing a lower note range and big, beefy tone that is ideal for heavy music and modern stylings, and perfect for players who want to explore the note range between standard guitar tunings and bass. A Gibson hardshell case is also included with every Gibson Victory Baritone to help keep it safe when traveling.
