This Gibson Custom Firebird™ Custom with Bound Head Veneer builds on the core specifications of the standard Firebird Custom, adding a refined three‑ply bound headstock that elevates its already premium look. First introduced in 1963 and created in collaboration with renowned automotive designer Ray Dietrich, the Firebird remains one of the most recognizable electric guitar silhouettes ever crafted.

The Gibson Custom Firebird Custom with Bound Head Veneer features a mahogany body trimmed with multi‑ply top binding. Its mahogany neck is joined to the body with a long neck tenon for enhanced resonance and rock‑solid stability, paired with a comfortable Medium C Neck Profile. The ebony fretboard offers 22 medium jumbo frets and is accented with mother‑of‑pearl block inlays.

A matched set of full‑size Gibson humbucker™ pickups powers this model, with a 490R in the neck and a 498T in the bridge. Together, they deliver a broad tonal spectrum, from shimmering clean sounds to aggressive overdrive. The electronics are hand‑wired to individual volume and tone controls that use high‑quality CTS® potentiometers, complemented by black Speed knobs. A black multi‑ply pickguard featuring a hot‑stamped Firebird logo adds a sharp visual touch. Gold hardware appears throughout, including the pickup covers, Tune‑O‑Matic™ bridge, Stop Bar tailpiece, Grover® tuners, and strap buttons.

With roots reaching back to the early 60s, the Firebird has evolved through many versions. This Gibson Custom Firebird Custom with Bound Head Veneer enhances the familiar Firebird Custom aesthetic with the addition of its three‑ply bound headstock and mother‑of‑pearl Gibson logo inlay. Combined with the gold hardware, multi‑ply body binding, bound fretboard, and mother‑of‑pearl block inlays, it offers a notably upscale presentation that stands out on any stage. Each instrument includes a Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity and a hardshell case.
