Jim Root or perhaps you better know him by his numeric designation #4 is one half of the guitars in the metal machine slipknot. Fender have been making signature guitars for Jim for years now stacked with EMG's but now Jim has finally allowed EMG to build him his own custom set of pickups. The set is based on his standard 81 and 60 pickups that he has used forever but with some tweaking . After trying various prototypes Root was inspired by a set of modified Retro Active pickups to tailor his tone. He settled on a set that gave him everything he loved from the 81/60 with the added benefits and versatility of the Retro Active design.
