Tonally, Redwood can be compared to Western Red Cedar, but there is a stronger treble presence and dynamic response than typically found in Cedar. Tasmanian Myrtle (or Tassie Myrtle as we Aussies call it) has a smooth, maple like tone, and when combined with Redwood seems to add a little extra warmth and sustain to the overall tone of the instrument.
The result is intriguing. The tone coming from these guitars is complex. All the frequencies we expect are present, but there is something more. The blend of overtones and the dynamic response to slight variations in playing technique, offer new possibilities to the player. This is a guitar that is hard to put down.
