The Gibson Songwriter was introduced in the late 1990s and features a unique Gibson square shoulder modern dreadnought body design. The Songwriter Recording Artist EC captures the historic tonal advantages that come from Gibson’s famed 1930s scalloped Advanced X-braced top, 25.5” long scale length, and tonewoods that are similar to the 1936 Advanced Jumbo’s, for a unique sound that is still 100% Gibson. Created for the connoisseur of acoustic recording and live performance, the Songwriter Recording Artist EC is a superior, powerful, and dynamic guitar for the most demanding professional players.
The Songwriter Recording Artist EC is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, using a thermally aged Sitka spruce top that is paired with a cutaway body crafted with rosewood back and sides. The cutaway body of the Songwriter Recording Artist EC provides enhanced access to the upper frets, making it ideal for lead guitarists and others who seek expanded range from their acoustic guitar. The 25.5” scale mahogany neck has a comfortable Round profile, and is fitted with a smooth-playing, bound ebony fretboard that is equipped with 20 standard frets and adorned with mother-of-pearl diamond eye inlays. The neck has a compound dovetail joint and is attached to the body using hot hide glue for a stable connection and maximum tonal transfer. The bound headstock has a rosewood veneer that features the Gibson logo and Crown inlaid in mother-of-pearl. The nut is bone, and high-quality gold Grover® open-back tuners are fitted. The bridge is also ebony and is equipped with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins, and decorated with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays. The thermally-aged Sitka spruce top is protected by a custom line tortoise pickguard and features a wide abalone rosette.
As the name implies, the Songwriter Recording Artist EC was designed to be a great recording and live performance guitar, and comes with high-quality electronics for easy plug-and-play performance in the studio or on stage. The built-in L.R. Baggs™ HiFi system features dual bridge plate sensors and a preamp inside the guitar that deliver outstanding dynamics, string balance, and note definition, while also being feedback resistant. The preamp is voiced to work together with the sensors to deliver natural-sounding acoustic tone when plugged in. The system’s soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls are easily accessed by the player while remaining all but invisible to the audience. The Songwriter Recording Artist EC ships in a Gibson hardshell case for protection when you’re on the road, and is a great choice for modern acoustic guitarists who perform live and in the studio. Try one for yourself, and prepare to be amazed.
