This mid-1980s Fender Japan Telecaster is all kinds of cool! Finished in a gorgeous Vintage Natural, this unusual instrument has unmistakable Keith Richards 'Micawber' vibes, with its neck humbucker, traditional Telecaster bridge pickup, black pickguard and beautifully worn brass-coloured bridge. Pinning down the exact model has proven a little tricky. The guitar carries a Made in Japan E-series serial number, while an ORDER MADE stamp and handwritten markings beneath the neck suggest a connection to Fender Japan's early TL72 family. We're referring to it as a TL 'Micawber', although its precise original factory configuration remains unconfirmed.We've included an extensive collection of photographs showing the guitar both assembled and disassembled, including the neck markings, pickup assemblies, bridge and internal electronics, so prospective buyers can examine the details for themselves. For an instrument approaching four decades of age, it presents very well. There is considerable scratching on the black pickguard and substantial wear to the brass-coloured bridge, both of which appear potentially intentional and contribute to its distinctive character. Other signs of age include a small finish crack at the neck pocket, a few dings along the lower edge of the neck and some fingerboard finish wear. Importantly, the frets remain in very good condition. The guitar has been freshly restrung and professionally set up with Elixir .010–.046 strings. It also comes with a fantastic Fender 'poodle' case, as pictured. A seriously characterful Japanese-made Telecaster with a fascinating history, a distinctive configuration and plenty of rock 'n' roll attitude!
