The CLP800 series is Yamaha’s latest and most authentic replication of the feel and sound of a real grand piano. Below are the main features found in the CLP875 that create this authentic experience, and some of the ways this model differs from the model preceding it in the range.

WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

What makes this piano different from the model below it in the range?

There are many features unique to the CLP875 which make it a worthy upgrade to the CLP845. Even just by looking at the piano you can see it has a taller cabinet, making for a more elegant design, and this also gives space to house the extra speakers along the front of the piano, making for a more immersive playing experience. The main difference however is in the action, with the CLP875 being equipped with Yamaha's top-tier GrandTouch action, with 88-key linear graded hammers (meaning every single key has a unique weight, as found naturally in a real grand piano) and longer keys, giving the pianist even more control over the instrument. The CLP875 also has the touch screen navigation panel which again brings an elegance and modern feel.

FEEL

GrandTouch

The highest level of action in Yamaha's digital piano range, gifting the performer access to an even wider dynamic range and yet more accurate response to the nuances of their playing.

Even closer emulation comes from the addition of the 88-Key Linear Graded Hammers, longer keys, escapement mechanism, the GP Response Damper Pedal, and by utilising the same wooden keys and synthetic ebony and ivory keytops as found in Yamaha's premium grand pianos.

Grand Touch Pedals

The pianist controls the pedals to add expression to the music, and makes frequent fine adjustments to how deeply they depress them in order to create the envisioned sound.

On a grand piano, pedaling requires more force when depressing the pedal, with the pedal feeling lighter on the return. This is because lifting a heavy damper requires more power than lowering it. GrandTouch pedals differ significantly from those in previous CLP Series pianos in that they replicate not only the resistance on the toes when the pedals are depressed, but also how that resistance lessens as the pianist returns the pedals to their original positions, a telltale physical property of grand piano pedals. This enables more precise pedaling and subtler changes in tonal expression, not only when depressing the pedals, but also by making it easier to hold the pedals in mid-stroke and control them as they slowly return to their original positions.

SOUND

Yamaha CFX and Bosendorfer Imperial Sample Sounds

Yamaha's latest samples of two of the best grand pianos in the world, offering pianists the option to perform with the rich, dazzling sound of the Yamaha CFX, or the warm and classic European sound of the Bosendorfer Imperial.

Binaural Sampling

These impressive sample sounds are experienced in a truly immersive fashion thanks to the ingenious use of binaural sampling - a method of sampling in which microphones are placed on a mannequin’s head in the same positions as the pianist’s ears to capture piano sounds the way that they sound in reality.

Virtual Resonance Modelling

Technology that raises the level of authenticity in digital piano sound to another level, bringing the natural resonance of the entire piano into the sound, including

sympathetic resonance of the strings, and the resonance of the duplex scaling, soundboard, and rims of the piano.

Grand Expression Modelling

Yamaha’s latest technological addition to the CLP range, bringing the performer even closer to the levels of expression only found in a grand piano, building upon the already incredibly responsive action to ensure that even the subtlest of nuances found in each pianist’s technique are reproduced in the sound of the piano.
