The Tim Commerford Artist Series StingRay Bass was developed in close collaboration with legendary bassist Tim Commerford of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and 7D7D, combining Ernie Ball Music Man craftsmanship with Tim’s performance-driven design preferences. Built with a resonant ash body, roasted maple neck, and ebony fretboard, this StingRay delivers a bold, balanced tone.
This passive version, offered in Fight Night White, delivers raw punch and dynamic feel whereas the active model, finished in Caliper Red, features a powerful neodymium humbucker, 18-volt preamp, and 3-band EQ for aggressive tonal shaping. Both versions include Tim’s custom height-adjustable finger ramp, a string-through-body bridge with red mute pads, and black hardware for a sleek, road-ready look.
Custom Neck Plate - The Tim Commerford artist series bass has a custom neck plate and all black hardware for a sleek, road-ready look.
Strings Through The Body Bridge - Featuring the classic strings-through-bridge with vintage plated saddles and adjustable, red mute pads.
Height Adjustable Custom Finger Ramp - Height adjustable thumb rest enables a more comfortable hand position when playing fingerstyle.
Engineered To Perform - Passive Electronics
The Tim Commerford Passive bass comes with a 3 position parallel / single-coil / series pickup rotary switch and push volume control with passive gain boost.
Powerful Neodymium Pickups
The StingRay humbucking pickup features powerful neodymium magnets, bringing you more output and a wider range of sounds. A beveled pickup cover thumb rest and adjustable finger ramp allow a more comfortable fingerstyle hand position playing above or adjacent to the pickup.
Adjustable Red Mute Pads
The classic string thru bridge is fitted with individual red mute pads allowing you to customize the degree of string dampening to suit your tastes.
5-bolt Sculpted Neck Joint
All Tim Commerford edition models include popular vintage appointments with updated modern refinements. Oil and wax maple and roasted maple necks are standard, along with a compensated nut and sculpted 5-bolt neck joint for full access to all 22 stainless steel frets.
